Pakistan, Australia discuss expanding trade, bilateral cooperation

August 06, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, with discussions focusing on strengthening ties in trade, people-to-people exchanges, and other areas of mutual interest.

The understanding emerged during a meeting between Pakistan's High Commissioner to Australia, Irfan Shaukat, and the Governor of New South Wales, Margaret Beazley, at Government House, according to a press release issued on Thursday.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed avenues to further enhance relations between the two countries and discussed opportunities for closer collaboration across multiple sectors, according to APP.

High Commissioner Irfan Shaukat highlighted the positive role and valuable contributions of the Pakistani community in New South Wales, describing it as an important bridge between the two nations.

Governor Margaret Beazley acknowledged the contributions of Pakistani Australians to the social, economic, and cultural development of New South Wales.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia.
