PTA warns public against fake alert on 051-7080507 calls

September 4, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has cautioned citizens against a fraudulent alert being circulated on social media concerning calls from a specific telephone number.

The fake notification, which uses the PTA’s logo, warns users against answering calls from 051-7080507, claiming that doing so could expose funds held in mobile wallets such as Easypaisa and other mobile accounts to potential risks, according to APP.

The telecom regulator clarified that the notification was not issued by the PTA and termed the circulating message fake and misleading.

The authority urged the public to avoid sharing or acting upon unverified information circulating across social media platforms.

Citizens have also been advised to rely on the PTA’s official social media channels for authentic notifications, alerts and other verified information.
