December 02, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a notice to all social media group admins in the country amid growing concerns over misuse of personal data.

The authority stated that many users believe their information, photos, videos, and messages are being misused, violating their privacy.

The PTA directed admins to ensure that no personal information is shared without proper authorization. All user data must remain secure and confidential. Admins are also required to remove all fake accounts immediately.

Additionally, group admins must check the details of all foreign members in their groups and remove any suspicious or foreign accounts.

Advertisements that are immoral or indecent must be strictly prohibited, and admins must ensure that decency, virtue, and cultural values are protected.

The authority reminded admins that Pakistan’s electronic laws provide full legal cover for action against violations, and any person acting against these laws will face legal consequences.

The notice is effective from December 1, 2025, and compliance is mandatory.
