PTA clears PTCL-backed Telenor amalgamation

March 24, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has cleared the proposed amalgamation of Pak Telecom Mobile Limited and Telenor Pakistan (Private) Limited, both wholly owned subsidiaries of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, according to a regulatory filing.
The approval, granted through an order dated March 19, 2026, is subject to the submission of an unconditional acceptance of the stipulated conditions within 15 days.
The transaction will be executed via a scheme of arrangement in line with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
This development marked a key regulatory milestone in consolidating the two mobile operators under the PTCL umbrella, potentially reshaping Pakistan’s telecom sector.
Further updates on the process will be communicated to the Pakistan Stock Exchange in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
