PSX investor base nears 700,000 on record October additions

November 03, 2026 (MLN): The equity investor base at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recorded an all-time high monthly increase of 25,747 in October 2026, up 66% YoY, taking the total investor base to a record 681,965, up 56% YoY.

The October addition surpassed the previous monthly record of 25,281 set in September 2026.

Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, shared the figures in a post on X.

He said that in the first ten months of 2026 (January to October), PSX added 218,894 net new investors, more than the net additions in the previous four full calendar years (2022 to 2025) combined.

He added that the figure nearly matches the additions of the previous five years (2021 to 2025).

Around 406,995 net new investors have been added since June 2022, a 148% expansion from the then investor base of 274,970.

He said around 85% of the new investors are Gen Z and Millennials, which highlights the growing participation of Pakistan’s younger generation in the capital market.

The sustained rise in investor participation signals growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic stabilization, improving macroeconomic fundamentals, policy direction and long-term capital-market prospects.

Furthermore, it also reinforces the Ministry of Finance’s broader agenda of democratizing savings and investments, expanding retail access, strengthening financial inclusion and deepening domestic capital markets, which helps channel household savings into productive investment and long-term economic growth.
