PSX Closing Bell: The Only Way Is Up

January 06, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 185,062.10, showing an increase of 2,653.87 points or 1.45%.

The index traded in a range of 4,299.38 points showing an intraday high of 185,481.45 (+3,073.22) and a low of 181,182.07 (-1,226.16) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 596.93 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 56 closed up, 42 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were ATRL (+8.25%), MCB (+7.90%), AIRLINK (+6.62%), NATF (+6.35%), and AICL (+5.95%).

On the other hand, top losers were PSEL (-5.52%), SSOM (-2.89%), MEHT (-2.59%), UNITY (-2.55%), and BOP (-2.00%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MCB (+450.68pts), UBL (+446.03pts), MEBL (+357.56pts), HBL (+337.96pts), and LUCK (+305.99pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were PSEL (-69.76pts), PPL (-63.83pts), EFERT (-55.06pts), OGDC (-44.61pts), and MARI (-42.20pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+1907.67pts), Cement (+348.53pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+152.90pts), Refinery (+87.14pts), and Technology & Communication (+82.78pts).

While the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-89.03pts), Fertilizer (-84.70pts), Miscellaneous (-59.84pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-19.04pts), and Property (-8.93pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 110,241.43 with a net gain of 1,270.50 points or 1.17%.

Total market volume was 1,306.06 million shares compared to 1,384.30m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs85.32 billion showing an increase of Rs7.23bn.

There were 595,861 trades reported in 485 companies with 238 closing up, 218 closing down, and 29 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 59,435 points or 47.31% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 11,008 points or 6.32% so far this calendar year.
