PSX Closing Bell: The Climb Continues

August 29, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 148,617.77, showing an increase of 1,274.27 points or 0.86%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 149,234.94 (+1,891.44) and a low of 147,488.46 (+144.96) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 624.60 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 61 closed up, 38 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were DGKC (+10.00%), FCCL (+8.42%), TGL (+8.26%), MLCF (+7.12%), and BOP (+5.68%).

On the other hand, top losers were INDU (-4.84%), EFUG (-4.38%), EPCL (-2.27%), AICL (-2.24%), and YOUW (-2.13%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were HBL (+152.84pts), DGKC (+139.04pts), LUCK (+135.49pts), FCCL (+124.24pts), and SYS (+117.16pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGROH (-65.82pts), MEBL (-61.46pts), INDU (-53.97pts), UBL (-27.73pts), and AICL (-14.98pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+620.09pts), Commercial Banks (+228.05pts), Technology & Communication (+107.25pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+91.69pts), and Glass & Ceramics (+69.08pts).

While the index was let down by Automobile Assembler (-58.91pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-57.89pts), Insurance (-24.55pts), Leather & Tanneries (-11.58pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (-8.49pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 91,685.07 with a net gain of 669.39 points or 0.74%.

Total market volume was 1,342.20 million shares compared to 935.45m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs52.31 billion showing an increase of Rs18.79bn.

There were 425,808 trades reported in 474 companies with 236 closing up, 203 closing down, and 35 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 22,990 points or 18.30% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 33,491 points or 29.09% so far this calendar year.
