PSX Closing Bell: Small Victories

January 28, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 188,380.38, showing an increase of 177.53 points.

The index traded in a range of 1,004.38 points showing an intraday high of 189,183.88 (+981.03) and a low of 188,179.50 (-23.35) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 423.53 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 42 closed up, 56 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PIOC (+10.00%), KEL (+3.69%), PPL (+2.91%), SSGC (+2.60%), and GHGL (+2.40%).

On the other hand, top losers were ILP (-2.96%), GADT (-2.70%), LCI (-2.39%), HCAR (-2.29%), and TRG (-1.86%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+263.80pts), PPL (+180.39pts), PIOC (+109.46pts), OGDC (+75.14pts), and POL (+60.58pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-296.31pts), MARI (-67.48pts), HUBC (-66.53pts), EFERT (-37.03pts), and SYS (-35.60pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+248.63pts), Commercial Banks (+237.59pts), Cement (+95.81pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+27.04pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+23.67pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-325.23pts), Technology & Communication (-60.64pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-46.02pts), Textile Composite (-43.17pts), and Chemical (-22.76pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 112,632.57 with a net gain of 209.35 points or 0.19%.

Total market volume was 953.92 million shares compared to 749.25m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs48.88 billion showing a decrease of Rs4.18bn.

There were 442,900 trades reported in 485 companies with 182 closing up, 253 closing down, and 50 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 62,753 points or 49.95% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 14,326 points or 8.23% so far this calendar year.
