PSX Closing Bell: Keeps the Momentum Alive

July 20, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended Monday's session marginally higher, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index recovering from steep intraday losses as late-session buying in heavyweight banking and refinery stocks offset earlier selling pressure.

Value buying in select blue-chip stocks helped the market erase losses and finish in positive territory.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 175,927.73, up 124.95 points or 0.07%.

The index traded in a range of 2,492.90 points, touching an intraday high of 176,129.35 (+326.57 points) and a low of 173,636.45 (-2,166.33 points).

The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 343.88 million shares.


Of the 100 index companies, 42 closed higher, 54 ended lower, while 4 remained unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were CNERGY (+8.16%), PIOC (+5.93%), ATRL (+4.10%), GHNI (+3.57%), and PIBTL (+1.88%).

On the losing side were GHGL (-2.81%), KTML (-2.80%), AIRLINK (-2.41%), GADT (-2.37%), and KOHC (-2.23%).


In terms of index-point contributions, UBL (+183.57pts), ATRL (+55.24pts), CNERGY (+38.61pts), ENGROH (+32.05pts), and HUBC (+28.37pts) provided the biggest support to the benchmark.

Meanwhile, HBL (-40.62pts), MTL (-32.62pts), MARI (-24.39pts), EFERT (-24.28pts), and SRVI (-20.80pts) weighed on the index.


Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+129.64pts), Refinery (+93.85pts), Cement (+53.30pts), Investment Banks / Investment Companies / Securities Companies (+31.37pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+18.66pts).

On the downside, Fertilizer (-56.41pts), Technology & Communication (-24.10pts), Leather & Tanneries (-20.80pts), Miscellaneous (-20.30pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-20.00pts) exerted pressure on the benchmark.


In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 106,419.79, down 148.49 points or 0.14%.

Total market volume stood at 675.92 million shares, compared with 621.02m in the previous session, while traded value rose by Rs0.38bn to Rs30.27bn.

A total of 356,564 trades were reported across 492 companies, with 165 stocks closing higher, 277 lower, and 50 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 4,374 points or 2.43% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 1,873 points or 1.08% so far this calendar year.
