PSX Closing Bell: Just a Touch Lower

September 29, 2026 (MLN):The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Tuesday’s trading session at 169,600.40, falling 825.22 points or 0.48%, as broad-based selling weighed on the market amid renewed concerns over prolonged Middle East tensions.

Oil prices climbed for a second straight session as investors grew increasingly concerned that the Middle East conflict could persist for longer, despite ongoing efforts to ease tensions. The rise in crude prices added pressure to market sentiment and risk appetite.

The index traded in a range of 1,406.12 points, hitting an intraday high of 170,944.34, up 518.72 points, before falling to a low of 169,538.22, down 887.40 points.

KSE-100 volume stood at 183.50m shares, with market breadth remaining negative as 75 index companies closed lower, 24 higher, and 1 unchanged.

Among the major losers, PGLC declined 3.79%, followed by AIRLINK (-2.95%), PABC (-2.51%), PIBTL (-2.48%), and SHFA (-2.35%).

SSOM emerged as the top gainer, surging 10%, followed by LOTCHEM (+5.48%), GADT (+3.13%), AHCL (+1.45%), and HALEON (+1.04%).

UBL was the biggest drag on the index, taking away 127.47 points, followed by FFC (-86.96pts), PPL (-76.65pts), HBL (-42.98pts), and MARI (-40.90pts).

On the contrary, LOTCHEM contributed 19.11 points, while BAHL, MEBL, ATRL, and PAKT added 14.52pts, 11.20pts, 6.96pts, and 5.29pts, respectively.

Sector-wise, Commercial Banks led the decline with a negative contribution of 216.60 points, followed by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-147.80pts), Fertilizer (-106.91pts), Cement (-61.75pts), and Technology & Communication (-58.03pts).

The index received support from Chemical (+9.75pts), Tobacco (+5.29pts), Paper, Board & Packaging (+4.02pts), Textile Spinning (+2.77pts), and Vanaspati & Allied Industries (+2.22pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,686.25, shedding 370.77 points or 0.36%.

Total market volume fell to 568.03m shares from 759.97m in the previous session, while traded value declined by Rs6.73bn to Rs20.81bn.

A total of 311,760 trades were reported across 496 companies, with 154 stocks closing higher, 305 lower, and 37 unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 10,701 points or 5.94% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 4,454 points or 2.56% so far this calendar year.
