PSX Closing Bell: Just Enough to Shine

June 16, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 122,225.35, showing an increase of 81.79 points or 0.07%.

The index traded in a range of 1,013.38 points showing an intraday high of 122,903.33 (+759.77) and a low of 121,889.95 (-253.61) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 181.44 million shares.

Investors remained cautious due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict and the MPC's decision to keep the policy rate unchanged at 11%, amid rising inflation and moderated expectations.

 

Of the 100 index companies 52 closed up, 47 closed down, while 1 remained untraded.

Top gainers during the day were BNWM (+10.00%), YOUW (+6.75%), NBP (+4.62%), UNITY (+3.80%), and NML (+3.41%).

On the other hand, top losers were PKGP (-10.00%), KTML (-3.90%), TPLRF1 (-3.57%), DGKC (-1.81%), and PIOC (-1.80%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were BAHL (+123.84pts), OGDC (+90.39pts), NBP (+80.94pts), MARI (+43.92pts), and MEBL (+31.81pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were PKGP (-145.87pts), LUCK (-71.57pts), ENGROH (-37.69pts), FFC (-27.70pts), and EFERT (-26.52pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+268.49pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+131.75pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+25.81pts), Textile Composite (+18.51pts), and Chemical (+15.58pts).

While the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution (-142.00pts), Cement (-133.59pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-44.60pts), Fertilizer (-42.01pts), and Real Estate Investment Trust (-21.30pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 76,334.69 with a net gain of 279.48 points or 0.37%.

Total market volume was 1,224.17 million shares compared to 968.35m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs25.75 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.81bn.

There were 351,114 trades reported in 471 companies with 282 closing up, 159 closing down, and 30 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 43,780 points or 55.81% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 7,098 points or 6.17% so far this calendar year.
