PSX Closing Bell: Green Takes the Checkered Flag

September 15, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index staged a strong recovery on Tuesday, gaining 1,421.67 points or 0.85% to close at 169,392.32, as broad-based buying across banks, cement, fertilizer and exploration stocks helped lift investor sentiment following the recent sell-off.
The rebound was driven by renewed buying interest and bargain hunting in key index-heavy stocks, with investors taking fresh positions across major sectors. The broad market strength, reflected in 72 KSE-100 constituents closing higher, helped the index remain in positive territory throughout the session.
The index touched an intraday high of 169,988.11, up 2,017.46 points, while the low stood at 169,189.29, still 1,218.64 points higher than the previous close.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index stood at 140.87 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies, 72 closed up, 26 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged.

IBFL (+10.00%), MEHT (+8.06%), PSEL (+7.96%), HCAR (+5.91%), and CHCC (+4.84%) were the top gainers.
Meanwhile, PABC (-2.08%), JVDC (-2.07%), MEBL (-1.67%), SHFA (-1.56%), and AGP (-1.50%) remained among the top losers.

In terms of index-point contributions, UBL (+151.99pts), FFC (+148.75pts), LUCK (+119.85pts), BAFL (+115.27pts), and PSEL (+104.01pts) were the major contributors to the index’s gains.
On the other hand, MEBL (-147.65pts), JVDC (-19.31pts), SAZEW (-12.39pts), BOP (-9.80pts), and HINOON (-9.55pts) exerted pressure on the benchmark.

Sector-wise, Commercial Banks (+343.38pts), Cement (+307.03pts), Fertilizer (+253.68pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+102.34pts), and Miscellaneous (+93.15pts) provided the strongest support.
The index was weighed down by Property (-19.31pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-9.22pts), Insurance (-6.11pts), Refinery (-3.49pts), and Paper, Board & Packaging (-0.69pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,246.76, gaining 626.88 points or 0.62%.
Total market volume declined to 372.02 million shares from 570.47m in the previous session, while traded value fell by Rs7.46bn to Rs17.21bn.
A total of 272,983 trades were reported across 494 companies, with 280 closing up, 166 down, and 48 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 10,909 points or 6.05% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 4,662 points or 2.68% so far this calendar year.
