PSX Closing Bell: Bulls Surrender

August 11, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its decline on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index losing 1,464 points as selling pressure intensified across cement, fertilizer, investment, and oil & gas exploration stocks.

Market sentiment remained subdued as oil prices held near their highest level in more than a week amid fading prospects for a US-Iran agreement, raising concerns over continued disruption in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and keeping geopolitical risks elevated.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 179,846.68, showing a decrease of 1,463.60 points or 0.81%.

The index traded in a range of 1,238.31 points, touching an intraday high of 181,017.29 (-292.99 points) and a low of 179,778.98 (-1,531.30 points).


The total volume traded in the KSE-100 Index stood at 370.24 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies, 17 closed higher, 80 ended lower, while 3 remained unchanged.

Top losers during the day were KOHC (-3.34%), BOP (-3.32%), AICL (-3.08%), ATRL (-2.85%), and CPHL (-2.72%).

On the other hand, top gainers were IBFL (+10.00%), PGLC (+3.33%), GADT (+2.56%), GAL (+2.40%), and HBL (+2.30%).


In terms of index-point contributions, FFC (-256.95pts), ENGROH (-163.18pts), LUCK (-143.46pts), UBL (-111.04pts), and BAHL (-103.25pts) dragged the index lower.

Meanwhile, HBL (+155.29pts), MEBL (+96.42pts), POL (+26.88pts), HMB (+17.31pts), and IBFL (+14.37pts) provided support.


Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was let down by Cement (-294.75pts), Fertilizer (-290.18pts), Investment Banks / Investment Companies / Securities Companies (-173.19pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-114.90pts), and Technology & Communication (-96.77pts).

The index was supported by Synthetic & Rayon (+14.37pts), Miscellaneous (+9.31pts), Close-End Mutual Fund (+2.62pts), Textile Spinning (+2.54pts), and Leasing Companies (+0.17pts).


In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 108,777.96, posting a net loss of 624.36 points or 0.57%.

Total market volume stood at 860.26 million shares, compared with 917.27m in the previous session, while traded value was recorded at Rs38.86 billion, showing a decrease of Rs5.94bn.

A total of 466,231 trades were reported across 492 companies, with 147 stocks closing higher, 311 lower, and 34 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 455 points or 0.25% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 5,792 points or 3.33% so far this calendar year.
