PSX Closing Bell: Against All Odds

September 03, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 152,201.87, showing an increase of 1,226.39 points or 0.81%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 152,805.30 (+1,829.82) and a low of 151,320.49 (+345.01) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 337.87 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 42 closed down.

Top gainers during the day were HUBC (+8.12%), THALL (+5.87%), PSX (+5.34%), HGFA (+5.32%), and HUMNL (+4.28%).

On the other hand, top losers were PGLC (-4.26%), JDWS (-4.02%), GHGL (-3.48%), PABC (-2.08%), and TGL (-2.07%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were HUBC (+405.19pts), FFC (+183.76pts), OGDC (+82.13pts), MARI (+64.05pts), and PPL (+52.29pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-39.30pts), BAFL (-37.53pts), MEBL (-21.00pts), GHGL (-20.98pts), and ENGROH (-18.82pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution (+410.80pts), Fertilizer (+219.58pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+195.67pts), Cement (+136.71pts), and Technology & Communication (+71.56pts).

While the index was let down by Glass & Ceramics (-34.80pts), Engineering (-15.04pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (-10.66pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (-10.61pts), and Chemical (-10.35pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 93,333.01 with a net gain of 582.92 points or 0.63%.

Total market volume was 1,043.23 million shares compared to 1,081.08m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs51.31 billion showing an increase of Rs6.88bn.

There were 452,274 trades reported in 476 companies with 241 closing up, 204 closing down, and 31 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 26,575 points or 21.15% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 37,075 points or 32.20% so far this calendar year.
