PSX Closing Bell: A Rough Day at the Office

February 06, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 184,129.58, showing a decrease of 3,702.50 points or 1.97%.

The index traded in a range of 4,489.01 points showing an intraday high of 188,036.30 (+204.22) and a low of 183,547.29 (-4,284.79) points.

The downturn was largely driven by weakness in the banking sector, particularly a sharp drop in National Bank of Pakistan shares after news that the next hearing in the bank’s long-standing pension case has been set for February 13, 2026.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 798.69 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 13 closed up, 86 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were NBP (-8.01%), PIBTL (-6.38%), PPL (-5.01%), KTML (-4.70%), and FATIMA (-4.27%).

On the other hand, top gainers were KEL (+7.58%), SAZEW (+3.36%), JVDC (+2.65%), PIOC (+2.55%), and SSOM (+1.64%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were NBP (-396.37pts), FFC (-383.97pts), PPL (-312.81pts), UBL (-278.30pts), and MEBL (-201.66pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were KEL (+58.96pts), SAZEW (+54.33pts), PIOC (+30.41pts), JVDC (+23.41pts), and TRG (+12.25pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-1413.66pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-548.71pts), Fertilizer (-532.09pts), Cement (-253.28pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-137.53pts).

While the index was supported by Automobile Assembler (+35.91pts), Property (+23.41pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (+1.54pts), Modarabas (+1.40pts), and Vanaspati & Allied Industries (+0.33pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 110,763.73 with a net loss of 2,087.96 points or 1.85%.

Total market volume was 1,272.64 million shares compared to 1,195.26m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs60.36 billion showing an increase of Rs16.26bn.

There were 513,018 trades reported in 479 companies with 112 closing up, 323 closing down, and 44 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 58,502 points or 46.57% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 10,075 points or 5.79% so far this calendar year.
