PSX Closing Bell: A Quiet Retreat

October 01, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 168,636.85, showing a decrease of 1,332.47 points or 0.78%.

The index traded in a range of 2,120.60 points showing an intraday high of 170,688.38 (+719.06) and a low of 168,567.78 (-1,401.54) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 149.85 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 13 closed up, 86 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were NCPL (-4.46%), NPL (-3.34%), JVDC (-2.89%), FHAM (-2.74%), and DGKC (-2.72%).

On the other hand, top gainers were SSOM (+7.62%), PGLC (+3.53%), IBFL (+1.38%), KTML (+1.02%), and JDWS (+0.69%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were PPL (-131.47pts), UBL (-106.06pts), HUBC (-84.68pts), OGDC (-76.24pts), and FFC (-71.69pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were KTML (+4.00pts), SRVI (+3.91pts), ATRL (+3.68pts), IBFL (+1.88pts), and JDWS (+1.84pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-304.52pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-260.23pts), Cement (-191.55pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-119.77pts), and Fertilizer (-101.59pts).

While the index was supported by Leather & Tanneries (+3.91pts), Synthetic & Rayon (+1.88pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (+1.84pts), Vanaspati & Allied Industries (+1.77pts), and Transport (+0.85pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,097.08 with a net loss of 795.55 points or 0.77%.

Total market volume was 548.38 million shares compared to 591.23m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs17.05 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.14bn.

There were 319,668 trades reported in 492 companies with 121 closing up, 323 closing down, and 48 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 11,665 points or 6.47% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 5,417 points or 3.11% so far this calendar year.
