PSX Closing Bell: A Nudge in Green

October 07, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Wednesday’s trading session at 168,580.40, gaining 120.30 points or 0.07%, as selective buying in technology, banking, and oil marketing stocks kept the index marginally in positive territory.
The market remained volatile during the session, with investors weighing fresh positions against profit-taking in key heavyweight sectors. Gains in UBL, SYS, PSO, PTC, and KEL provided support, while weakness in exploration, fertilizer, and cement stocks capped the upside.
The index traded in a range of 1,206.12 points, touching an intraday high of 169,271.98, up 811.88 points, while the low stood at 168,065.86, down 394.24 points.
KSE-100 volume rose to 244.16m shares, with 56 index companies closing higher, 43 lower, and 1 unchanged.

KEL led the gainers, surging 8.05%, followed by BML (+6.80%), PTC (+3.76%), TRG (+2.08%), and TGL (+1.88%).
On the losing side, SSOM declined 6.72%, followed by AGP (-1.67%), CNERGY (-1.55%), AKBL (-1.49%), and KTML (-1.48%).

UBL contributed the most to the index gain, adding 97.41 points, followed by SYS (+65.08pts), PSO (+48.44pts), PTC (+45.78pts), and KEL (+43.98pts).
Meanwhile, MARI dragged the index down by 64.25 points, followed by MEBL (-35.05pts), LUCK (-32.67pts), HUBC (-28.92pts), and OGDC (-26.03pts).

Sector-wise, Technology & Communication led the gains with a contribution of 119.37 points, followed by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+57.97pts), Commercial Banks (+30.21pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+21.96pts), and Automobile Assembler (+16.88pts).
The index faced pressure from Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-103.05pts), Fertilizer (-44.20pts), Cement (-25.91pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-15.01pts), and Chemical (-6.22pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 101,946.18, gaining 194.75 points or 0.19%.
Total market volume increased to 586.86m shares from 432.02m in the previous session, while traded value rose by Rs2.23bn to Rs22.37bn.
A total of 304,709 trades were reported across 501 companies, with 272 stocks closing higher, 184 lower, and 45 unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 11,721 points or 6.50% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 5,474 points or 3.14% so far this calendar year.
