PSX Closing Bell: A Bump in the Road

June 17, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 121,971.04, showing a decrease of 254.31 points or 0.21%.

The index traded in a range of 1,076.23 points showing an intraday high of 122,891.61 (+666.26) and a low of 121,815.38 (-409.97) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 203.25 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 37 closed up, 62 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PKGP (-10.00%), YOUW (-5.42%), NPL (-2.41%), KEL (-2.23%), and KTML (-2.09%).

On the other hand, top gainers were BNWM (+10.01%), POML (+6.67%), FHAM (+3.55%), NML (+3.39%), and PSEL (+2.94%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were PKGP (-131.29pts), LUCK (-82.60pts), ENGROH (-40.59pts), HUBC (-36.11pts), and FFC (-29.12pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UBL (+68.44pts), HBL (+65.73pts), SYS (+58.69pts), OGDC (+26.10pts), and PSEL (+23.28pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution (-182.75pts), Cement (-154.85pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-46.54pts), Pharmaceuticals (-32.26pts), and Fertilizer (-25.25pts).

While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+103.88pts), Technology & Communication (+62.82pts), Textile Composite (+30.05pts), Miscellaneous (+29.44pts), and Insurance (+7.63pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 76,217.23 with a net loss of 117.46 points or 0.15%.

Total market volume was 1,152.01 million shares compared to 1,224.17m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs27.98 billion showing an increase of Rs2.23bn.

There were 354,583 trades reported in 473 companies with 193 closing up, 244 closing down, and 36 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 43,526 points or 55.49% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 6,844 points or 5.94% so far this calendar year.
