PSO’s RLNG cost hits record high in July on spot LNG imports

August 03, 2026 (MLN): PSO's RLNG imports remained stagnant in July 2026, with the delivered cost climbing to a record high as the company continued to rely entirely on spot cargoes instead of long-term contracted supply from Qatar.

According to data compiled by Arif Habib Limited, Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) procured five spot LNG cargoes for delivery in July 2026 at an average DES price of $18.98/mmbtu, translating into a Brent slope of 20.07%.

With other charges of $4.72/mmbtu added, the total RLNG cost stood at $23.70/mmbtu, the highest level on record, as PSO once again did not import any long-term LNG cargoes under its agreements with Qatar during the month.

The five cargoes supplied around 428 mmcfd of RLNG during July, with the overall import bill amounting to $310.15mn, at an average cost of $62.03mn per cargo.
