PSO, Islamabad police foil diesel theft bid, recover 1,000 litre fuel

September 05,2026 (MLN): Pakistan State Oil (PSO), in a joint intelligence-led operation with Islamabad Police, foiled an attempted fuel theft on the Sihala–Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) pipeline in the early hours of Wednesday.

They dismantled an illegal tapping clamp and arresting two suspects, with recoveries including nearly 1,000 litres of High-Speed Diesel, a loader vehicle, and the theft equipment used in the bid.

The company's monitoring systems at the Sihala Terminal detected an abnormal pressure drop along the pipeline at around 4:30 a.m, according to a press release issued.

Acting on prior intelligence and real-time surveillance, PSO's security team alerted Islamabad Police, and a joint raid was launched within thirty minutes, catching the perpetrators in the act.

The suspects, recovered fuel, and vehicle were handed over to Sihala Police for formal case registration and legal proceedings, while the site has been secured and restored to safe operating condition.

A PSO spokesperson said fuel theft is not merely a crime against national assets but a threat to lives and communities, adding that the company maintains zero tolerance for illegal tapping and will keep pursuing perpetrators to the full extent of the law.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country's energy supply chain, noting continued coordination with federal and provincial authorities to protect critical infrastructure.
