PRA steps up crackdown on tax evasion

August 04, 2026 (MLN): The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) carried out surprise inspections of hotels, restaurants, and commercial establishments in Rawalpindi to audit compliance with the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (e-IMS) and curb revenue leakages.

The enforcement drive was carried out under the supervision of PRA Commissioner Rawalpindi Khalid Yameen Satti, who warned that legal action would be intensified against entities found issuing fake invoices or defaulting on provincial tax obligations, APP reported.

The commissioner directed business owners to integrate e-IMS into their operations to properly document commercial transactions, issue verified tax invoices, and deposit dues into the national exchequer.

He added that unannounced monitoring visits would continue across the region as part of efforts to meet revenue collection targets.
