PM voices concern after strike on US Base in Qatar

June 24, 2025 (MLN):To express concern over the latest escalation following reports of an Iranian missile strike on a U.S. military base in Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate telephone conversations with the ambassadors of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

During his call with Qatar’s Ambassador, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, the Prime Minister conveyed solidarity with the government and people of Qatar during this difficult time.

He emphasized that "all efforts must be made" to de-escalate tensions and restore peace in the region, as per the press release issued.

In response, the Qatari envoy thanked the Prime Minister for promptly reaching out and for his expression of support at such a critical moment.

In a separate conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz also spoke with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malki.

He reiterated Pakistan’s serious concern over the missile attack reports and affirmed that the country would continue to work closely with Saudi Arabia to intensify peace efforts.

The Saudi ambassador expressed gratitude for the outreach and agreed that close coordination between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan was essential to ensure an early and peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
