PM reviews major hospital projects, directs swift completion

September 04, 2026 (MLN):  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre be completed by March next year, as he reaffirmed that providing quality healthcare to the people remains among the government's top priorities.

He was chairing a review meeting in Islamabad on the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, as well as the Phase-II extension of the Federal Government Polyclinic, said a press release issued.

The Prime Minister directed that the pace of health sector reforms be accelerated.

During the meeting, various designs and proposals for the proposed Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre were presented, while participants were also briefed on the progress of the Federal Government Polyclinic's Phase-II extension.

It was decided that the under-construction Polyclinic Extension in Sector G-11 would be launched as the first phase of the Jinnah Medical Complex, a move aimed at making the facility operational at the earliest and providing citizens with quality healthcare.

The Prime Minister emphasised that all possible measures should be taken to develop the first phase of the project into a modern, state-of-the-art hospital, and directed that it be equipped with modern, high-tech medical equipment.

 He further directed that third-party validation of the project continue alongside its progress.
