PM reaffirms economic discipline amid budget approval

June 10, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic stability and fiscal discipline while chairing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, where the budgetary proposals for FY2025-26 were approved.

He noted with satisfaction the positive trends in key economic indicators, highlighting an increase in exports, including IT, and a significant rise in remittances.

Addressing broader national issues, the Prime Minister asserted that Pakistan had defeated India in a conventional war and emphasized the collective need to advance economically.

He also firmly stated that India would not be allowed to disrupt Pakistan’s water supply, as per the press release issued today.

Shehbaz Sharif commended the finance ministry and other relevant departments for their efforts in preparing the budget, and acknowledged the tax burden shouldered by the salaried class.

Expressing international solidarity, he voiced support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

He urged the global community to help bring about a ceasefire in Palestine and recognized the enduring sacrifices made by Palestinians and Kashmiris, expressing hope for their eventual freedom from oppression.
