PM reaches Jeddah to strengthen Pakistan-Saudi ties

August 07, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Jeddah on Friday for an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

The Prime Minister was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, Pakistan's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, along with senior Saudi and Pakistani diplomatic officials, according to Radio Pakistan.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to hold talks with Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation, reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, and reviewing regional developments of mutual interest.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister will also perform Umrah and travel to Madinah Munawwarah to pay respects at Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him).

A high-level delegation is accompanying the Prime Minister, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
