PM Shehbaz to chair NEC meeting today

June 10, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to chair the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting today, according to a familiar person, as the top economic decision-making body reviews development priorities and broader economic coordination between the federation and provinces.

The meeting of the National Economic Council is expected to take up key items including the national investment framework for FY2026–27, provisional GDP growth estimates for FY2025–26, and finalisation of economic data for FY2024–25.

It will also review development planning proposals and ongoing public sector projects, with a focus on infrastructure, energy, water resources, and social development sectors.

The council is also expected to deliberate on a multi-trillion-rupee development outlay, with federal and provincial development programmes forming the bulk of the investment plan, alongside province-wise allocations discussed for balanced regional development.
