PKR strengthens to Rs277.67 against USD

August 11, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani currency maintained its firm stance against the dollar on Tuesday, strengthening by 3.04 paisa, to close at Rs277.67 in the interbank market compared with Rs277.70 in the previous trading session.

During the session, the rupee recorded an intraday high bid of Rs277.75 and a low ask of Rs277.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at Rs278.00 for buying and Rs278.75 for selling.

The local currency also gained ground against major international currencies. It appreciated by 90.99 paisa, or 0.28%, against the euro, which closed at Rs320.24 compared with Rs321.15 a day earlier.

Against the British pound, the rupee strengthened by 9.66 paisa, or 0.03%, to settle at Rs374.87 from Rs374.97.

The rupee gained Rs1.63, or 0.47%, against the Swiss franc, closing at Rs342.30.

Meanwhile, the local unit appreciated 0.97 paisa, or 0.55%, against the Japanese yen to close at Rs1.7427, compared with Rs1.7524 in the previous session.

Against the Chinese yuan, the rupee strengthened by 1.37 paisa, or 0.03%, to close at Rs41.16 from Rs41.17.

The rupee also gained 1.00 paisa, or 0.01%, against the Saudi riyal to settle at Rs73.95, while it edged up 0.01 paisa against the UAE dirham to close at Rs75.61.

During the current fiscal year, the rupee has appreciated by 48.99 paisa, or 0.18%, against the US dollar. On a calendar-year basis, the local currency has gained Rs2.45, or 0.88%, against the greenback.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer (KIBOR) rates edged down by 1 basis point to 11.50% for bid and 11.75% for offer.
