PKR strengthens slightly against USD

July 14, 2026 (MLN): The rupee posted a marginal gain against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session, appreciating by 0.95 paisa to close at 278.01 per dollar, compared to Monday's finish of 278.02.

During intraday trading, the currency touched a high (bid) of 278.05 and a low (ask) of 278.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.25 for buying and 279.05 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee gained 90.05 paisa or 0.28% versus the Euro, settling at 316.82 against the previous 317.72. It strengthened by 1.04 rupees or 0.28% against the British Pound to close at 371.38, compared to 372.43 a day earlier. Versus the Swiss Franc, the local unit rose 2.10 rupees or 0.61% to end at 341.75.

The rupee also gained 0.27 paisa or 0.16% against the Japanese Yen, closing at 1.7123 versus 1.7150 previously. However, it slipped 1.77 paisa against the Chinese Yuan, settling at 41.02 from 41.00.

Against Gulf currencies, the rupee appreciated 2.43 paisa versus the Saudi Riyal to close at 74.03, and edged up 0.26 paisa against the UAE Dirham to 75.70.

On a cumulative basis, the rupee has strengthened by 14.77 paisa against the dollar during the current fiscal year, while gaining 2.11 rupees or 0.76% on a calendar-year-to-date basis.

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month KIBOR rose by 7bps, with bid and offer rates settling at 11.40% and 11.65%, respectively.
