PKR strengthens 2.87 paisa against USD

September 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.87 paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.42 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.45.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.3 and a low (ask) of 282.5.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.20 for buying and 282.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 99.36 paisa or 0.30% against the Euro, closing at 331.71 compared to the previous value of 330.72.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.04 rupees or 0.28% to 380.48 compared to 379.44 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 98.96 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 354.75.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.36 paisa or 0.19% to close the session at 1.9045 versus 1.9009 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 0.91 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.56 from 39.55.

The local currency appreciated by 1.36 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.03. While it strengthened by 0.78 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.62.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 2.34 rupees or 0.83%. While it has fell 2.87 rupees or 1.02% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.80% and 11.05%.
