PKR shows minor strength, closes at 281.15 per USD

October 14, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 1.18 paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.15 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.16.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.50 and a low (ask) of 282.20.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.80 for buying and 282.20 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 1.26 rupees or 0.39% against the Euro, closing at 324.90 compared to the previous value of 326.16.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.82 rupees or 0.48% to 373.06 compared to 374.88 a day ago.

The local unit rose 45.04 paisa or 0.13% against Swiss franc to close at 349.80.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value weakened 0.24 paisa or 0.13% to close the session at 1.8488 versus 1.8464 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 5.47 paisa or 0.14% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.37 from 39.42.

The local currency fell by 0.68 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.97. While it rose by 0.32 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.55.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 2.61 rupees or 0.93%. While it has decreased 2.60 rupees or 0.93% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.92% and 11.17%.
