PKR rises by 3 paisa against USD

March 09, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 3.08 paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.37 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.40.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.55 and a low (ask) of 279.35.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.5 for buying and 280.45 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 1.68 rupees or 0.52% against the Euro, closing at 322.84 compared to the previous value of 324.53.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 85.13 paisa or 0.23% to 372.68 compared to 373.53 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 74.31 paisa or 0.21% against Swiss franc to close at 359.02.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.94 paisa or 0.53% to close the session at 1.7635 versus 1.7729 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 11.19 paisa or 0.28% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.40 from 40.51.

The local currency appreciated by 0.62 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.42. While it increased by 0.53 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.06.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 4.39 rupees or 1.57%. While it has strengthened 75.21 paisa or 0.27% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 9bps to 10.64% and 10.89%.
