PKR rises by 3 paisa against USD

January 30, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.91 paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.77 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.80.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.2 and a low (ask) of 280.8.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280 for buying and 280.85 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 1.24 rupees or 0.37% against the Euro, closing at 333.99 compared to the previous value of 335.23.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 1.75 rupees or 0.45% to 385.47 compared to 387.22 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 70.45 paisa or 0.19% against Swiss franc to close at 364.64.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.73 paisa or 0.40% to close the session at 1.8191 versus 1.8264 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 1.78 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.26 from 40.28.

The local currency rose by 0.57 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.59. While it fell by 0.04 paisa against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.18.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 3.99 rupees or 1.43%. While it has increased 35.03 paisa or 0.13% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.25% and 10.50%.
