PKR rises by 3 paisa against USD

January 19, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 2.80 paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.92 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.95.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.75 and a low (ask) of 281.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.30 for buying and 281.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 41.53 paisa or 0.13% against the Euro, closing at 325.48 compared to the previous value of 325.07.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 2.35 paisa to 374.90 compared to 374.93 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 1.41 rupees or 0.40% against Swiss franc to close at 350.23.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.20 paisa or 0.11% to close the session at 1.7713 versus 1.7693 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 2.54 paisa or 0.06% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.20 from 40.18.

The local currency strengthened by 0.54 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.65. While it fell by 0.27 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.22.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 3.84 rupees or 1.37%. While it has gained 19.96 paisa or 0.07% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.07% and 10.32%.
