PKR nears 100-session stability milestone against USD

February 13, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 2.87 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.62 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.65.

This marks the 99th consecutive PKR gain against the USD.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.65 and a low (ask) of 279.60.

The rupee is expected to hover near the Rs280-per-dollar range through 2026, supported by tight monetary policy and measured central-bank intervention aimed at anchoring expectations and limiting excessive volatility.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 280.70 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 60.73 paisa or 0.18% against the Euro, closing at 331.58 compared to the previous value of 332.18.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 65.43 paisa or 0.17% to 380.78 compared to 381.43 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.38 paisa against Swiss franc to close at 362.79.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.92 paisa or 0.50% to close the session at 1.8206 versus 1.8298 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 5.14 paisa or 0.13% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.47 from 40.52.

The local currency strengthened by 0.77 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.56. While it depreciated by 0.15 paisa against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.14.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 4.14 rupees or 1.48%. While it has rose 50 paisa or 0.18% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.28% and 10.53%.
