PKR remains flat against USD

January 23, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 0.92 paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.86 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.7 and a low (ask) of 280.1.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.60 for buying and 280.95 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 1.07 rupees or 0.33% against the Euro, closing at 328.31 compared to the previous value of 327.24.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 1.64 rupees or 0.44% to 377.48 compared to 375.84 a day ago.

The local unit fell 1.66 rupees or 0.47% against Swiss franc to close at 353.94.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.57 paisa or 0.32% to close the session at 1.7685 versus 1.7628 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 0.94 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.18 from 40.19.

The local currency increased by 0.25 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.63. While it gained by 0.25 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.19.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 3.90 rupees or 1.39%. While it has strengthened 25.95 paisa or 0.09% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 3bps to 9.96% and 10.21%.
