PKR remains flat against USD

January 15, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 1.05 paisa against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.75 and a low (ask) of 281.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.30 for buying and 281.05 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 37.62 paisa or 0.12% against the Euro, closing at 325.60 compared to the previous value of 325.97.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 23.81 paisa or 0.06% to 376.07 compared to 376.31 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 11.77 paisa or 0.03% against Swiss franc to close at 349.32.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.53 paisa or 0.30% to close the session at 1.7655 versus 1.7602 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 1.06 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.16 from 40.15.

The local currency strengthened by 0.28 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.65. While it appreciated by 0.29 paisa against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.22.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 3.80 rupees or 1.36%. While it has increased 16.01 paisa or 0.06% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.10% and 10.35%.
