PKR posts marginal gain, nears Rs281 against USD

October 29, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 1.34 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.05 and a low (ask) of 282.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.05 for buying and 282.05 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 71.81 paisa or 0.22% against the Euro, closing at 326.71 compared to the previous value of 327.43.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 3.29 rupees or 0.88% to 371.18 compared to 374.47 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 1.08 rupees or 0.31% against Swiss franc to close at 352.52.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.27 paisa or 0.15% to close the session at 1.8445 versus 1.8472 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 0.70 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.58 from 39.57.

The local currency strengthened by 0.36 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.92. While it rose by 0.58 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.49.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 2.81 rupees or 1.00%. While it has deteriorated 2.41 rupees or 0.86% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.94% and 11.19%.
