PKR maintains 275-session winning run, closes at 276.7

November 04, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward trajectory against the US dollar on Wednesday, marking its 275th consecutive session of appreciation and accumulating gains of Rs4.7210, or 1.71%.

In the interbank market, the local currency strengthened by 0.97 paisa to close at Rs276.70 per dollar, compared to the previous session's closing rate of Rs276.71.

During the trading session, the rupee recorded an intraday high bid of Rs276.80 and a low ask of Rs276.70.

Meanwhile, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at Rs277.30 for buying and Rs280 for selling in the open market.

Against other major currencies, the rupee posted mixed movements. It depreciated by Rs1.34, or 0.43%, against the euro to settle at Rs311.13, while losing Rs1.77, or 0.48%, against the British pound to close at Rs373.01.

Similarly, the local currency weakened by 48.64 paisa, or 0.14%, against the Swiss franc to settle at Rs339.20.

On the other hand, the rupee gained 0.22 paisa, or 0.13%, against the Japanese yen to close at Rs1.7500. It also appreciated by 1.17 paisa against the Chinese yuan to settle at Rs41.45.

Against regional currencies, the rupee strengthened by 0.46 paisa against the Saudi riyal to Rs73.72 and by 0.26 paisa against the UAE dirham to close at Rs75.34.

On a fiscal-year-to-date basis, the rupee has gained Rs1.46, or 0.53%, against the US dollar. Its appreciation since the beginning of the calendar year stands at Rs3.42, or 1.24%.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer Rates (KIBOR) remained unchanged at 12.42% and 12.67%, respectively.
