PKR inches higher against USD

January 27, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 2.87 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.82 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.85.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.60 and a low (ask) of 280.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.30 for buying and 280.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 45.57 paisa or 0.14% against the Euro, closing at 331.93 compared to the previous value of 331.47.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 47.85 paisa or 0.13% to 382.56 compared to 382.08 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 12.48 paisa or 0.03% against Swiss franc to close at 359.58.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.63 paisa or 0.35% to close the session at 1.8082 versus 1.8145 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 0.58 paisa or 0.01% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.22 from 40.22.

The local currency appreciated by 0.77 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.62. While it appreciated by 0.68 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.18.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 3.94 rupees or 1.41%. While it has strengthened 29.99 paisa or 0.11% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 22bps to 10.15% and 10.40%.
