PKR holds largely flat against USD

November 03, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee posted marginal gains against the US dollar in the interbank market on Tuesday, appreciating by 0.82 paisa to close at PKR 276.71, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 276.72.

During the trading session, the local currency recorded an intraday high (bid) of 276.80 and a low (ask) of 276.70.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 279.75 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee recorded mixed movements, gaining 39.65 paisa or 0.13% against the Euro to settle at PKR 309.78, compared to 310.18 in the previous session.

Similarly, the local unit appreciated by 27.38 paisa or 0.07% against the British Pound, closing at PKR 371.24 versus 371.51 a day earlier.

However, the rupee weakened against the Swiss Franc, losing Rs1.52 or 0.45% to close at PKR 338.72.

Against the Japanese Yen, the local currency strengthened by 0.31 paisa or 0.18%, settling at PKR 1.7522 compared to 1.7553 previously.

The rupee also gained 17.59 paisa or 0.42% against the Chinese Yuan, closing at PKR 41.46 against the previous rate of 41.64.

Meanwhile, the local currency appreciated by 1.00 paisa against the Saudi Riyal to settle at PKR 73.72, while gaining 0.32 paisa against the UAE Dirham to close at PKR 75.34.

Cumulatively, the rupee has strengthened by Rs1.45 or 0.52% against the US dollar during the current fiscal year. Its appreciation since the beginning of the calendar year stands at Rs3.41 or 1.23%.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates declined by 1 basis point each to 12.42% and 12.67%, respectively.
