PKR closes stronger at Rs278.05 against USD

July 10, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani Rupee extended its appreciating trend against the US Dollar in Friday's interbank session, gaining 0.93 paisa to settle at Rs278.05 per dollar, compared to the previous close of Rs278.06.

During the session, the rupee moved within a range of 278.20 and 278.05 against the greenback.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at Rs278.25 for buying and Rs279.10 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee also posted gains. It appreciated by 3.84 paisa (0.01%) against the Euro, closing at 317.90 versus 317.94 previously.

Against the British Pound, the local currency gained 10.97 paisa (0.03%) to close at 372.95, compared to 373.06 a day earlier. The rupee also strengthened by 1.14 paisa against the Swiss Franc, ending the session at 344.87.

However, the local currency lost ground against the Japanese Yen, falling 0.72 paisa (0.42%) to close at 1.7200 versus 1.7128 previously. It also weakened against the Chinese Yuan, shedding 9.58 paisa (0.23%) to settle at 41.02 from 40.93.

Against the Saudi Riyal, the rupee fell by 0.94 paisa (0.01%) to 74.06, while it gained 0.25 paisa against the UAE Dirham to close at 75.71.

On a cumulative basis, the rupee has appreciated against the US Dollar by 10.74 paisa (0.04%) so far in the current fiscal year. On a calendar-year basis, the currency has gained 2.07 rupees (0.74%) against the dollar.

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates edged down by 1 basis point each to 11.33% and 11.58%.
