PKR gains 3 paisa against USD, settles at 277.12

September 29, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee strengthened by 3.23 paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday’s interbank trading, closing at PKR 277.12 compared with Monday’s rate of PKR 277.15.

During the session, the rupee traded within a range of PKR 277.10 to PKR 277.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.70 for buying and PKR 278.20 for selling.

The local currency also gained ground against most major currencies. It appreciated by Rs1.19, or 0.38%, against the euro to close at PKR 314.21, while strengthening by 95.74 paisa, or 0.26%, against the British pound to PKR 366.65.

Against the Swiss franc, the rupee gained Rs1.42, or 0.43%, settling at PKR 332.06. Its value against the Japanese yen improved by 0.78 paisa, or 0.44%, to close at PKR 1.7606.

The rupee, however, weakened by 4.91 paisa, or 0.12%, against the Chinese yuan, closing at PKR 41.34 compared with PKR 41.29 previously.

Against regional currencies, the rupee strengthened by 2.43 paisa, or 0.03%, against the Saudi riyal to PKR 73.81, while gaining 0.67 paisa, or 0.01%, against the UAE dirham to close at PKR 75.46.

On a cumulative basis, the rupee has appreciated by Rs1.04, or 0.38%, against the US dollar during the current fiscal year, while its gain stands at Rs3.00, or 1.08%, so far in the calendar year.

Meanwhile, in the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 3 basis points to 11.80% and 12.05%, respectively.
