PKR edges up against USD, settles at 276.8

October 27, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.14 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank market on Tuesday, closing at PKR 276.80 compared to the previous close of PKR 276.82.

During the session, the currency recorded an intraday bid and ask rate of PKR 276.80.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.30 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

Against major currencies, the rupee gained Rs1.13, or 0.37%, against the euro, settling at Rs308.65 compared to Rs309.78 a day earlier.

The local currency appreciated by Rs1.62, or 0.44%, against the British pound to close at Rs368.77 from Rs370.39 in the previous session.

Against the Swiss franc, the rupee strengthened by Rs2.05 to close at Rs334.12.

The rupee also gained 0.97 paisa against the Japanese yen, closing at Rs1.7556 compared to Rs1.7653 a day earlier.

However, the local currency weakened by 1.73 paisa against the Chinese yuan to settle at Rs41.51 from Rs41.50 in the previous session.

Against the Saudi riyal, the rupee declined by 0.90 paisa to close at Rs73.75, while it appreciated by 1.51 paisa against the UAE dirham to settle at Rs75.36.

During the current fiscal year, the rupee has gained Rs1.36, or 0.49%, against the US dollar. Its appreciation has reached Rs3.32, or 1.20%, so far in the current calendar year.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained unchanged at 12.20% and 12.45%, respectively.
