PKR edges higher against USD

February 18, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.83 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.57 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.60.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.60 and a low (ask) of 279.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.15 for buying and 280.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 2.24 paisa against the Euro, closing at 330.83 compared to the previous value of 330.81.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 22.01 paisa to 379.14 compared to 379.36 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 69.50 paisa or 0.19% against Swiss franc to close at 362.24.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.72 paisa or 0.39% to close the session at 1.8191 versus 1.8263 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 0.41 paisa against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.47 from 40.47.

The local currency rose by 0.55 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.55. While it appreciated by 0.77 paisa against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.12.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 4.19 rupees or 1.50%. While it has appreciated 54.99 paisa or 0.20% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.31% and 10.56%.
