PKR edges higher against USD

February 09, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 0.98 paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.70 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.71.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.30 and a low (ask) of 280.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 280.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 1.99 rupees or 0.60% against the Euro, closing at 331.75 compared to the previous value of 329.77.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 1.13 rupees or 0.30% to 380.69 compared to 379.56 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 2.29 rupees or 0.64% against Swiss franc to close at 361.93.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.27 paisa or 0.15% to close the session at 1.7863 versus 1.7836 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 6.93 paisa or 0.17% against Chinese Yuan to close at 40.37 from 40.30.

The local currency appreciated by 0.86 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.58. While it gained by 1.21 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.15.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 4.06 rupees or 1.45%. While it has appreciated 42.09 paisa or 0.15% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.27% and 10.52%.
