PKR adds 3 paisa against USD, closes at 276.72

November 02, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee strengthened against the US dollar in the interbank market on Monday, appreciating by 3.03 paisa to close at PKR 276.72 per dollar, compared to the previous session's closing rate of PKR 276.75.

During the session, the dollar traded at an intraday high bid of PKR 276.80 and a low ask of PKR 276.70.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.30 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the rupee recorded mixed movements, losing ground against several currencies while posting gains against the Japanese yen, Saudi riyal and UAE dirham.

The local currency depreciated by 38.10 paisa, or 0.12%, against the euro, closing at PKR 310.18 compared to PKR 309.80 in the previous session.

Similarly, the rupee weakened by 31.90 paisa, or 0.09%, against the British pound to settle at PKR 371.51, compared to the previous close of PKR 371.19.

Against the Swiss franc, the rupee declined by 8.62 paisa, or 0.03%, to close at PKR 337.20.

Meanwhile, the local currency appreciated by 0.39 paisa, or 0.22%, against the Japanese yen, which closed at PKR 1.7553 compared to PKR 1.7592 a day earlier.

Against the Chinese yuan, the rupee depreciated by 5.67 paisa, or 0.14%, to settle at PKR 41.64 from the previous close of PKR 41.58.

The rupee gained 1.20 paisa against the Saudi riyal to close at PKR 73.73. It also edged up by 0.01 paisa against the UAE dirham, ending the session at PKR 75.35.

Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, the rupee has appreciated by PKR 1.44, or 0.52%, against the US dollar. Its gain against the greenback has reached PKR 3.40, or 1.23%, so far in the current calendar year.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates (KIBOR) increased by 2 basis points to 12.43% and 12.68%, respectively.
