September 21, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited (PSX: PIBTL) staged a dramatic turnaround for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, reporting a net profit of Rs3.37bn compared to a net loss of Rs257.93m in the preceding year.

Reflecting this sharp recovery, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) turned positive at Rs1.89, up from a loss per share (LPS) of Rs0.14 in FY25.

The primary catalyst behind the turnaround was a massive 64% surge in top-line revenue alongside a 2.65x expansion in gross profit.

Net revenue from contracts with customers grew to Rs16.39bn, up from Rs9.97bn in FY25.

Although the cost of services expanded by 38% to Rs10.94bn, strong volume throughput enabled gross profit to rise multi-fold to Rs5.45bn compared to Rs2.06bn in the prior year.

On the operational front, overheads grew to support higher cargo operations.

Administrative and general expenses rose 27% to Rs1.44bn.

However, this was well cushioned by a 95% boost in "other income" (Rs874.11m) and net foreign exchange gains of Rs23.12m (reversing an exchange loss of Rs74.31m in FY25).

Below the operating line, PIBTL gained massive debt-servicing relief.

Finance costs dropped 43% to Rs716.96m (down from Rs1.26bn in FY25).

Driven by interest cost savings, foreign exchange gains, and top-line momentum, profit before taxation reached Rs4.19bn (reversing a pre-tax loss of Rs81.41m in FY25).

The company absorbed a net income tax charge of Rs822.28m for the year.

Supported by 64% revenue growth, a 165% gross margin expansion, exchange gains, and a 43% reduction in finance charges, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited securely closed the fiscal year with a net profit of Rs3.37bn.
