October 09, 2026 (MLN): Norse Atlantic Airways will lease two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), with flight operations scheduled to begin in November 2026, Reuters reported, citing the Norwegian carrier.

The agreement will help Norse retain a key aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) contract following IndiGo’s decision in July to terminate its wet-lease arrangement with the Norwegian airline group.

Norse has been reducing its exposure to low-cost transatlantic operations amid rising jet fuel costs while shifting its focus toward ACMI agreements, under which it supplies aircraft and crews to other airlines for a fee.

The airline said long-term ACMI contracts with major international carriers help shield its business from fluctuations in passenger demand and fuel prices. It added that discussions with other airlines regarding potential agreements were ongoing.

Norse currently operates a fleet of 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The company began a formal process in July to explore a potential sale or merger as it seeks to address financial challenges and restructure its business.
