June 23, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended services to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai as a precaution against the mounting unrest in the Persian Gulf.

In an official release, the national carrier emphasized that passenger safety is paramount. “Given the current volatility in parts of the Gulf, cancelling these routes is a necessary step,” the airline’s spokesperson stated, expressing regret for the disruption.

PIA confirmed flights will restart once conditions stabilize.

Affected travellers are being contacted directly and offered rebooking options on alternate flights. Passengers are urged to verify their flight status via PIA’s call centre or website before departing for the airport.

Earlier this week, PIA operated a special evacuation mission to repatriate Pakistani nationals stranded in Iran.

A chartered flight from Peshawar flew to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where 150 citizens, transported from Mashhad with embassy support, were brought home.

The carrier said additional relief flights are being planned under government directive to ensure all stranded Pakistanis can return safely.
