Over 5.6m cotton bales reach Pakistan Ginneries

March 04, 2026 (MLN): Seed cotton arrivals at ginning factories across Pakistan have surpassed 5.6 million bales (5,607,433) by February 28, 2026, marked a modest 1.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Of the total seed cotton received, more than 5.58m bales (5,588,078) have been processed into pressed cotton bales, according to statistics shared with APP by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA)

Punjab contributed over 2.69m bales (2,692,721) to the total, showing a slight decline of 0.92% year-on-year, while Sindh recorded an increase of 3.84% with more than 2.91m bales (2,914,712) delivered to local ginning units.

Sales remained strong, with over 5.36m bales (5,365,103) sold, including 5.18m bales purchased by textile millers and 177,600 bales by exporters. The remaining stock stands at 242,330 bales.

District-wise, Sanghar in Sindh led the arrivals with 1.29m bales (1,287,350), followed by Bahawalnagar in Punjab with 769,358 bales and Bahawalpur with 417,550 bales.

During the reported fortnight, a total of 71 ginning factories were operational, including 67 in Punjab and four in Sindh, ensuring smooth processing of the incoming cotton crop.
